MUSIC

As Julia Kristeva discusses in Strangers to Ourselves, being in a foreign land is to be constantly reminded as an outsider, the other. Far removed from their language and roots, cay finds comfort in nostalgia through music, particularly of the 80's era Japan. City Pop brings them a sense of familiar spring air, the smell of the ocean, the color of the summer sky with stormy clouds.

For the dancefloor, cay weaves in multitudes of genres from House, Techno, Humidifier Bass, Disco, Zouk, City Pop, to Ambient into their playful set, guiding the dancers to a place beyond binary and borders. Through their set filled with imagination and infinite giggles, they wish to help create a sweet dance floor where people can dance freely with friends and lovers under the sun and the moon.

cay has performed in queer-centered dance floors across North America from Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver B.C., Chicago, to New York. Their DJ mixes have been featured on global radio shows and podcasts including Daisychain Chicago, The Lot Radio NYC, Rinse FM London, Festimi Amsterdam, and Refuge Worldwide Berlin.
